Community Development Component Leader Vacancy

The Aqaba Community and Economic Development (ACED) Program is a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded program, ending in October 2012, benefiting the people and businesses of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZ). The ACED Program seeks to recruit a Jordanian full-time Community Development Component Leader to be based in Aqaba. The Component Leader will manage all community development activities and resources.

Main responsibilities of the Community Development Component Leader

  1. Manage all Community Development Component work planning and cross-cutting activities
  2. Manage Community Development Component resources and implementation tools (three full-time staff, short term technical assistance, grants and commodities)
  3. Maintain the Component’s Performance Management Plan (PMP), including activity results, performance indicators, and targets
  4. Oversee grants and commodities management activities from a technical perspective
  5. Manage the relationship with the Community Development Component implementation partners engaged through grants or sub-contracts
  6. Enhance capacity of Aqaba based CSOs and NGOs to provide relevant services
  7. Manage the poverty alleviation initiatives and activities
  8. Manage activities aiming at increasing citizen engagement in economic growth and the career awareness initiatives
  9. Support stakeholders in enabling the environment for productive citizen participation
  10. Ensure the efficient and effective implementation of the Community Development Component work plan activities
  11.  

Education, Experience and Required Skills

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in management, economics, social work or related field. Masters degree is a plus
  2. About 10 years of experience in project management and oversight
  3. Proven knowledge and experience in community development and citizens engagement initiatives – Aqaba       experience is preferred
  4. Experience in community mobilization methodologies and practices
  5. Experience in Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) development
  6. Excellent managerial skills – significant experience in planning, budgeting, and reporting
  7. Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
  8. Strong team player, able to work under pressure and for long hours
